MasterCard Debit Card

For emergency after hours reporting of lost or stolen cards, please call (866) 546-8273.
This will prevent future transactions from posting to your account but does not relieve you of your responsibility as a cardholder to notify The Bank & Trust. You will need to contact the bank during normal business hours to order a replacement card and to report any fraudulent transactions that have resulted from your card being lost or stolen prior to calling this number. Remember, this MasterCard debit card will DEBIT your checking account for all transactions and is not a credit card. Some withdrawal limits apply, so be sure and read all disclosures.

Please note:
TB&T utilizes a Fraud Center to monitor transaction activity on your TB&T MasterCard Debit Card to help prevent fraud.  From time to time, you may be contacted by our Fraud Center to verify questionable activity.  Please note this call may come from a 1-888 number; however, the representative will identify themselves as a Fraud Center Representative.

Zero Liability Protection for Lost & Stolen Cards
Have peace of mind knowing that the financial institution that issued your U.S. MasterCard card won’t hold you responsible for “unauthorized purchases.” Zero liability applies to purchases made in the store, over the telephone or made online. As a MasterCard cardholder you will not be responsible in the event of unauthorized purchases provided that the following preconditions are met:

  • Your account is in good standing
  • You have exercised reasonable care in safeguarding your card from any unauthorized use**. Unauthorized use means that you did not provide, directly, by implication or otherwise, the right to use your card and you received no benefit from the “unauthorized” purchase. (**Failure to register certain cards will be considered as not safeguarding your card.)
  • You have not reported two or more unauthorized events in the past 12 months.

Zero Liability does not apply to MasterCard cards

(i) issued for commercial, business or agricultural purposes, except for MasterCard commercial cards used for small businesses as listed on www.mastercardbusiness.com; or

(ii) if a PIN for a debit transaction is used for the unauthorized purchase.

What to do …

If you have questions regarding zero liability coverage or you suspect unauthorized use of your card, contact your issuing financial institution IMMEDIATELY.*

If any of the conditions set forth above are not met, then your liability may not be zero but it may be limited by your issuing financial institution or federal, state or local law. Again, check with your issuing financial institution.**

* See your Cardholder Agreement for more details. Cardholders should always regularly check their monthly statements for transaction accuracy. The Bank & Trust may impose greater liability on the cardholder if the bank reasonably determines that the unauthorized transaction was caused by the gross negligence or fraudulent action of the cardholder – which may include your delay for an unreasonable time in reporting unauthorized transactions.

**There are NO transaction fees for withdrawing cash at any of The Bank & Trust’s ATMs. Transactions made at any other ATM are subject to any surcharge charged by the financial institution who owns the ATM you are using. Any fees associated with your current checking account will apply when using your MasterCard debit card, such as activity fees or insufficient fund (NSF) charges. There are no monthly fees associated with possessing your MasterCard debit card.
